Hi thar, this be Gatamigo. I write from time to time, usually fanfiction, sometimes original stuff. Any oneshots or short stories I write will be posted here, in tandem with another topic I'm running on another board under the same title. Even if you don't like the story, please comment on it. Bad responses are still responses, y'know. ------------------------------ He didn't say a word when he found her alone in the alley way, holding her legs against her chest and trying her hardest to hide her tear stained face. He didn't ask her to look at him, or to stop crying, or even to tell him what was wrong. He simply removed his hat and took a seat beside her, letting her cry. She felt his prescence even before she peeked out from under her arm at the boy, who had taken to gazing off into the busy, sun bleached street. Cars zoomed by one after the other and none of the drivers took any heed to the odd couple next to the dumpster. It wasn't any of their buisness anyhow. After a while, she found her voice amongst her sobs, managing to squeak out a feeble "why?" The boy turned and looked at the girl sympathetically, his blond bangs falling into his eyes with the motion. "Why?" he repeated, "Why do you ask 'why?' Only a fool would ask such a thing." The girl was taken aback. She hadn't expected him to respond in such a manner; usually he'd have a wise word of advice, or maybe some kind things to say to soothe her pain. To have him retort her request shocked her into silence as her tears stopped falling. "No one can know the reason why, my dear," he continued, turning back to watch the traffic as it passed, "Things happen in life, that's the way it is. We can never know 'why' things happen. They just do. It's like asking 'why does it snow?' or 'why does spring come?' We can know HOW snow falls, or what causes snow to form, but we can never know 'why' it falls." She lifted her face from her arms, staring at the boy thoughtfully. What he was saying had some truth in it. He turned back to her and gave a small smile. She felt the need to smile back, and did so, although she wasn't sure if it looked like much of one. He lifted his hand to her face and wiped a teardrop away from her eye, running his finger down her cheek to her jaw, and then lifting her chin so they made eye contact. "Everything happens for a reason, love. Even if we can't see it now, or if you can't think of a single thing that this moment will change, there's always a reason. Every hardship, every pain, every trial that we go through in our lives will help us to grow as a person, and make us cherish the times when everything is going our way. I know you feel like everything is coming down on you. I know you feel like there's no light at the end of your tunnel, I know that you want to give up now... but don't you see?" He stood, grabbing her hand and pulling her up with him. Bending down a little so that they were at eye level with each other and pulling her hand up to his chest, he looked into her eyes and smiled widely, saying, "No matter how hard it snows, regardless of whether we know why... spring always comes." And with that, he plopped his oversized green cap onto the girl's head, and lead her home. ~Gatamigo

Ok, moving on. This next piece was going to be adapted into a plot for a Sega Fighter Fangame I'm working on in another forum (Can't tell you where, though, as it's not open to the public at the moment) The game would start with two characters joining forces for one reason or another, then meeting up with other groups as the story progressed until everyone was in the same place for the final fight (kinda like Brawl's storyline, but whatever.)
My idea was shot down before I got past this part though, as there were some arguments on the roster we'd chosen. Until the problem was resolved (which it still hasn't) I opted to wait before writing any farther. Making this fair game to show to everyone and their dog as I'm kinda proud of it.
Keep in mind while you're reading this that the only information I knew about these characters were what I got from Wikipedia and fansites; I've never had the honor of playing these titles.
---------------> Chains. Oh, the indignity of being chained. Astal groaned and tugged once more at the links of gold that clamped around his wrists, keeping him to the ground. Like every time before, the chains did not let loose, and Astal stayed in the same place he had been for many days.
The boy furrowed his bushy red eyebrows, frustrated that his strength wasn't enough to break through his bonds. He needed to be free. He needed to return to his home. He needed to save Leda.
"Leda!!!" the boy cried, flinging his head back and clenching his eyes in agony, "I will save you Leda! I promised... I promised to protect you!" He opened his eyes and stared at the glowing planet in the distance. She was there, on the planet of Quartilia; on their home.
"I will protect you," he said, tears forming in his eyes, "I... I... All I ever wanted to do was to protect you. I was created to protect you!" he stammered, "Why did she put me here if I was doing what she created me to do?!"
With all the strength he could muster, Astal screamed out into the sky, "Please!" he screamed, "If there is anyone out there! Anyone who can help me! Please, come to me! Lend me your power! I need to protect my Ledaaaaaa!!!!"
The boy slumped back to the ground, letting his tears fall in great sobs. Here on the moon, far from his home and his love, abandoned and imprisoned by the one who created him, Astal felt truly alone.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhere out in the cosmos, surrounded by a cluster of resting stars, the Star Goddess Oruto slept. The universe was at peace, all the stars in the sky were happy, and Oruto could rest knowing that all was right. But there was one little star who wasn't so content with the current events. That star was Ristar.
Idly sitting in his place in the sky, Ristar tiredly fiddled with a small cloud of star dust, tossing it from hand to hand like a shiny ball. At times, he would throw it away from him, watching it float through the open space ahead of him. Because of the zero-gravity that happened from time to time in outer space, the ball just floated on it's path, away from Ristar.
Tiredly, but not wanting to lose the only source of entertainment he had, the little star extended his white gloved hand like it were rubber, reaching out many lengths past what one might think, snatching the ball out of mid-air. The little star sighed and looked at his toy. To think there was a time when this was all that he did and he didn't mind. He'd never experienced anything before, so this was all he knew how to do. But after his adventures though the Vedja system, his old hobbies just didn't have the same effect. There was nothing to do anymore, what with Greedy gone.
“Nothing bad happens anymore,” Ristar mused, “Everyone is happy, so I should be happy too!” But he wasn't happy. Ristar crossed his arms and nodded to himself, silently coming to the conclusion that Universal Peace was boring.
Suddenly, without any warning, a voice drifted through Ristar's mind. It was no louder than a whisper, but he heard it.
“Ledaaaaaa!” the voice cried, “Ledaaaaaaa!”
“Who's there?” asked Ristar, spinning around wildly in search of the mysterious sound. There was no one around. The little star listened again for the voice, but heard nothing.
“I must be imagining things...” he said sadly, slumping back down into his previous seat. The boredom was getting to him.
“Ledaaaa!!!!”
“Ok, ok, ok,” said Ristar as he quickly rose, “I know for a fact that I heard it this time. Who's doing that?”
From deep within the star cluster floated the soft voice of Oruto, “That, my child, is a wish.” Ristar jumped and spun to face the Star Goddess as she floated to his side.
“A wish?” asked Ristar, “You mean that somewhere, someone's wishing on a star?”
“Not quite,” replied Oruto with a chuckle, “This person, whoever he is, is in great need. He is desperate enough to call out to anyone who can hear him. And that someone is you, Ristar.”
“How do you know I'm the one he needs, Oruto? Why did he choose me?” Ristar asked, unsure of himself.
“He didn't choose you, my child, destiny did. You have heard his voice calling you from across the universe, and only you can grant his wish. Will you help him?”
Ristar wasn't so sure. He had fought off Greedy and his generals pretty easily, but he had never actually granted a wish before. He had no idea where to start! But... If this person was desperate enough to call out like this... and if Ristar was the only one who heard it, then there was no question about it.
“I'll go. If someone has a wish, it's a star's job to grant it!” the young star nodded and clenched his fists, ready for action. Oruto smiled.
“Then go, my child. You have my blessing.” Ristar grinned and looked out at the universe.
“Hold on, my friend,” said Ristar, “I'm coming to grant you a wish!”
End-

Very good game, even though I've never played it. Here's something I JUST whipped up. Not sure if it's any good, but, meh. ------> She stood silently in the hall, peering through the open doorway to the classroom in front of her. The bell had already rung, and few students were left in the building itself. Save for Him. She tugged nervously at her white hankercheif, which she had used as a hairband today, tied in a big bow on top of her head. She thought it looked cute this morning, complementing her short blond haircut, but now she thought is just looked weird. It wasn't like she could do anything about it now. She heard him say goodbye to his friends inside the classroom, stepping out with his bag hanging loosely on one shoulder. He stopped quickly, in front of her, surprised to see here there. "Well hello there!" he said kindly, smiling down at her, "I thought you'd have gone home by now." She opened her mouth to speak, but suddenly forgot what it was that she was going to say. Instead, she began to stutter, "He-he-he-hey," she said, quickly looking at the floor. She wasn't sure she could do this. "I know you're p-probably busy but, c-c-could I t-t-talk with you for a minute?" She looked up at his face, trying to fight back her blush. He looked at her quizzically for a moment before nodding silently. He started walking down the hall slowly and she fell into step with him. What was she going to do? She had spent so much time building up the courage to tell him this, but now it seemed like there was no point. But she had to say something. "Um....W-wanna play a word game?" she asked. He looked at her with an amused smile on his face. "I thought you wanted to talk to me? Now you want to play a game?" She mentally cursed herself for being so stupid. THAT wasn't what she was trying to say! She took a deep breath and opened her mouth to try again. "A-are you hungry? Want something to eat?" she asked. He faced forward again as they turned a corner down another hall. "I'm not hungry, but I am a little thirsty. Have any water?" Her face fell as she replied, "Umm... I... I don't have water." He just nodded and kept walking. She was completely embarrased. This hadn't gone the way she'd hoped at all. Her throat was dry and it was getting hard to breathe. But if she didn't get this out, she knew she never would. She sighed audibly, unsure of what to do. If she were honest with herself, she'd admit that this was the scariest thing she'd ever done. She wanted to express what she felt to this boy, but it was so hard to make the words come. By now, the two had lapped the current hallway and were standing outside the classroom where they'd started. The boy looked at his watch and raised an eyebrow at the time. Inside, she began to panic. If he left now, she knew he wouldn't get another chance at this. He looked at her with a gentle smile. "Do you still want to talk to me?" he asked. She looked away and replied, "I'm sorry... If you're busy,I-" "Oh, no," he interjected, waving his hand in front of his face like it was no big deal, "It's ok. I have nowhere I need to be except for here with you." Hope flared in her chest. He wanted to be here with her? But that didn't mean a thing if she didn't say what she needed to say. "Um...Ro-Rock, Paper, Scissors!" she blurted out, waving her arms to exxageerate her point. Wait, what? She didn't want to say that! "Sure," he said with a grin. He held his fist out next to hers and counted the beats. On the third, they shot out their hands. His was flat, in the form of paper. Hers wasn't so easily read. Some fingers were pointing straight, others bent, and her hand was tilted slightly to the right. Both stared at her strange hand position before he quietly suggested, "Iced Coffee?" Her face was beet red, "Yeah. Iced Coffee." Silence fell between the two as she tried to make heads or tails of this. He stood by patiently, waiting for her to find her words. There was only way. She had to say it NOW. "L-look, I know it's sudden but...." she began, fiddling with her fingers, "It's kind of a weird f-f-eeling... I mean- I'm sorry!" She hid her face in her hands , trying to push the blush away. "This may be a surprise, but I wanted- I wanted- I... er..." Her nerves started to get the best of her, and she began to stammer, "I-I-I-I- I'm sorry!" The boy took a step back, looking down at her with a confused look on his face. She was staring at the floor with her face hidden by her hands. "I'm sorry..." she said quietly. Her bravado had failed. Her words had failed. She had failed. His face fell and he turned to walk away. She stood there, unmoving as he left. Her feelings hadn't been expressed. They were still inside, dying to come out. "Wait!" she screamed, quickly looking up. He stopped walking and turned around, still silent. "I li-!" she tried, "I- I li-li-Li-LI-!!!" She scrunched up her face, fisted her hands, tensed her shoulders, and with all the inner strength she had left, blurted out loudly, "I like- I Love you!!!" Oh god, had she just said that? The blush came back full force as the significance of what she had just said fell on her. She quickly covered her face as tears filled her eyes, waiting for his rejection. But nothing happened. Carefully, she uncovered her face to him smiling in front of her. He took her hands into his and laid a kiss her knuckles, responding, "I know." End?

Interestingly enough, I've never played it either. Regardless, there was fantastic imagery in that story.
Which may inspire me to write more stories over the break, including ProXy vs. Dark Part 1, which I never got around to finishing. X(

This next bit is the first chapter of what WAS going to be a complete run-through of the Sinnoh region, relying only on my knowledge of Pokemon and my handy-dandy Diamond & Pearl after-game walkthrough. I took some character ideas from the Diamond & Pearl Manga, as well as bits and pieces from my older "To Me" series, which I'll eventually put up here as well.
Sadly, this "Diary of a Pokemon Trainer" series was never finished. I got to chapter two and then life got rough. With SoulSilver out now and everyone and their dog having written something like this, I'm not continuing it. Heck, I'm taking it out of continuity for any future pokemon stories I write, even though I really did enjoy writing it.
Anyway, here it is!
Edit: (By the way, Jun's name is pronounced "JOO-n" while Hikari's name is pronounced "He-KA-ree" Their characters were based off of the female trainer and rival from D/P/Pt respectively. Derek's outfit was based off the boy trainer, with some minor alterations)
-----> Diary of a Pokemon Trainer- Chapter One: A Meeting, A Greeting, and a Quiet that's Fleeting “Derek, are you ready? Jun's at the door and is getting impatient!” cried a young girl from the foot of the stairs as she straighted her red scarf behind her. The cloth fell softly on her black vest that covered a white tank top. Her short pink skirt matched her large pink boots that covered her long black socks. Adjusting her white cap and grabbing her yellow handbag, she bounded away from the stairs and to the door where her impatient friend tapped his foot annoyingly. The 'friend' in question wasn't really her friend, just a neighbor she'd known for some time. His blond hair had been messily combed that morning, causing it to stick up on the sides like thick horns. He wore a orange and white striped jacket with short sleeves and a thick collar. The collar of said jacket had been turned down to fit the green scarf that was tied carelessly around his neck. He tapped his brown shoes against the floor as he stood, getting more impatient by the minute. He swung himself around, almost hitting the girl with his large brown messenger bag. “Hikari!” he cried as she fixed her yellow hair clips in a hall mirror, “We need to hurry! If we don't leave for Sandgem now, Rowan will have given out all the good Pokémon!” Hikari sighed and rolled her eyes, “For the love of Arceus, Jun! I'm not the reason we're late. Besides, Rowan has tons of Pokémon. I'm sure he'll have one for you.” “He better.” scoffed the blond boy as he crossed his arms and leaned against the open door, “Who's this guy you're bringing?” “My cousin, Derek. He just came from the Hoenn region down south. Apparently he didn't have such good luck there and is coming here to try it out!” “Hoenn eh?” asked the boy with mild interest, “If he couldn't make it to the top there, why did he come here?” “Because I wasn't trying to make it to the top,” answered Derek as he descended the stairs. His normally curly black hair had been shoved under a black beret, but his bangs still showed from under the rim. Like his cousin, Derek wore a black vest over his white long sleeved shirt. His red scarf had been carefully tied around his neck, flowing off his shoulders as he walked. On his back was a large yellow backpack, apparently filled to the brim, topped with a rolled up sleeping bag. Derek gave the two younger trainers a smile. “Sorry to keep you waiting,” he said, “Shall we get going?” “Sorry?!” squeaked Jun, stamping his foot, “I'm going to miss out on my first Pokémon and it's your fault! I think I deserve more than a sorry from you mister.... uh...” “Ichijoji Derekuu-san.” finished the black-haired boy politely, “You can just call me Derek, Jun. I've already heard a lot of you from Hikari.” “Unfortunately,” added Hikari as she switched her bag to the other shoulder and walked out the door, “Not all of the things I've been able to tell were good...” Derek followed his cousin out the door, leaving a confused Jun to think about that last statement. “Wait... not all things she said were good... that means...” he scratched his head a few times before realizing his traveling companions were already halfway out of Twinleaf town. “Wait for me!” screamed the blond boy as he ran after his friends. The three traveling companions, energetic and excited about their journey traveled down the wooded path. Jun lead the way, swinging his arms back in forth as he strutted along with head held high. Hikari walked behind the blond haired boy, reading from the map in her hands. Derek quietly followed the younger two with a small smile on his face. “Now, according to the town map,” said Hikari loud enough for both boys to hear, “We're on Route 201. If we follow it, we'll come out right by Sandgem town!” “That's great!” shouted Jun, “Then I'll get my first Pokémon, then I'll fight gym leaders, then make it to the elite four, then I'll be the Pokémon champ of Sinnoh, then I'll go all over the world to show people how awesome I am, and THEN-” “Wow, Jun, that's a pretty long list,” said Derek, “You're aiming to become a Pokemon master, eh?” Jun spun on his heel and flashed a big grin at Derek, posing and flipping his hair dramatically. “That's right! I'm gonna be the greatest Pokemon trainer of all time!” Hikari, with her nose still in her map, walked past Jun without pause, saying, “For a guy who can barely remember to tie his shoes, I find that hard to believe, Jun.” Jun turned around quickly and glared at Hikari's back as she went along. “Hey, that's not fair! I've got better things to worry about in the morning. My shoes just aren't that much of a priority!” “I'm guessing that packing a map wasn't that great a priority this morning either. Which is weird, considering you plan on traveling around the entire region. That'll be fun without knowing which way to go, won't it?” retorted Hikari without looking back once. Jun fumed and stomped after Hikari. Derek scratched the back of his head and jogged after the two. This could not end well, and he knew it. “I wonder,” muttered Derek under his breath, “How those two ever got along... if they ever did.” Before long, the trio had reached the end of Route 201. With high spirits, they burst through the trees, ready to dash to remaining feet to Rowan's lab. Fate, however, had not been so kind. “What the heck is all this?!” screamed Jun as he gestured wildly at the large body of water in front of us. “Um, It looks like a lake?” offered Hikari sheepishly. “We were looking for Sandgem town, Hika!” continued Jun, “Sandgem! With Sand! Not water!!!” Derek gently took the map out of Hikari's hands, staring at it a few minutes before snapping his fingers and saying, “I see where we went wrong! According to this, Route 201 goes two different directions. One way goes to Sandgem, the other goes to the Lake Verity, supposed resting place of Mesprit, the Pokémon of Emotion.” “I don't care about some stupid Pokémon in some stupid lake.” seethed Jun, rather angry, “I want to get to Sandgem town!” “Calm down, Jun!” exclaimed Hikari, waving her hand around as if to clear smoke, “We'll just go back the way we came and then follow the trail! It's not that far is it?” “Actually...” groaned Derek, still looking at the map. “Actually WHAT?!” cried the over stressed Jun. “Well,” muttered Derek slowly, not sure how to tell his angry traveling partner the bad news, “If we were to start out from here, we wouldn't even get back to Twinleaf Town before the sun set. And without any Pokémon to protect us during the night...” “We might be attacked or robbed!” finished Hikari with a hint of fear in her voice. A moment of silence befell the three trainers as they thought about the options. “We could always spend the night here?” offered Hikari, fearful of traveling after dark. “But, but, but!” sputtered Jun, “That would mean being a DAY late for our Pokémon!” “I think Rowan would understand,” replied Derek as he set his bag down and began pulling out some utensils and packages. “In the meantime, we need to set up camp. Night falls quickly when you're traveling.” Hikari and Jun both gave each other worried looks and began moving things around, setting up a small camp. Derek sighed happily as quiet surrounded the camp. Both Hikari and Jun had fallen asleep shortly after sundown, and the night was passing uneventfully. Derek, being the oldest in the group, had volunteered to stay up and keep watch. He sat next to the open fire in the center of the camp, poking at the burning logs with a stick. “These two seem to be so full of life,” he mused quietly, “The see this as a field trip, if anything.” The boy sighed and gazed into the fire. If only he could see this trip the same way. After traveling in Hoenn, Derek had lost that love of adventure he once had. Maybe his friends were right; he needed this trip as much as the young ones. Suddenly, a small bird-like Pokémon hopped into the firelight. Derek became startled, tensing up in case the pokemon decided to attack. However, the creature just looked up at Derek for a moment before hopping closer to the fire. It puffed it's feathers up and shook, warming itself. Derek calmed down when he realized the pokemon didn't mean any harm. He smiled slightly as the Pokemon settled down and sighed, happy to be warm. “I wonder,” he thought, “If all bird Pokemon are this brave. It almost reminds me of-” Derek shook his head to chase away those thoughts. Nothing but trouble. To take his mind off of the topic, Derek took to watching the bird. He'd never seen a Pokemon like it before. The majority of the bird was a light brown, with a white face and chest. There was also a small streak of white down it's tail too. It's head, wing tips, and beak tip were a darker brown than it's body, and it's beak and feet were a bright orange. The bird looked up at the boy gratefully as it stood. “Starly,” it whispered, “Starly-star!” Derek smiled and nodded his reply. The bird, apparently named Starly flapped into the air and flew for the trees. Derek watched it go, then shrugged and turned back to the fire. Pokemon like that were a dime a dozen. He didn't really think he'd ever be seeing it again.
End Chap.1

Okee-dokee. Second (and final) part of Diary of a Pokemon Trainer. Again, this story will not be continued, so... sorry?
Chapter Two: The Pastry's so Tasty; but to Sandgem, make Hasty! Jun yawned loudly as he stretched his arms over his head. He smacked his lips twice before wriggling out of his bright green sleeping bag. He stood and cracked his back, grinning at the bright morning sky. He looked down at Hikari who was still asleep in her own sleeping bag. An evil grin spread across his face. Leaning over the sleeping girl he pondered aloud, “Hmm... to torture or not to torture?” “If you want breakfast from me, you'll choose not to torture, Jun. I have to travel with you two all the way to Sandgem, and I don't want to have to listen to you two bicker more than I have to.” replied Derek as he stirred the contents of a large pot over the fire. Jun visibly jumped, having not seen Derek there before. “Wha-what did you do that for?” stammered Jun. “I didn't do anything other than warn you about not getting breakfast. Which, by the way, is almost ready. Go wash your hands in the lake and I'll serve you,” replied Derek, not once looking up from his cooking. Jun stood for a moment, before sticking his tongue out at the older boy and saying, “Yes, MOM.” Derek just sighed and continued stirring. Eventually, Hikari woke up and joined the two boys around the fire place. “What's cooking, Derek?” asked Hikari as she stared into the pot. Inside was a swirling cream liquid. Sometimes colored balls floated to the surface, but they quickly fell into the mixture. “Well,” said Derek as he handed out bowls and forks, “During my travels in Hoenn, I learned to cook some recipes from Sinnoh region. There was a traveling trainer who taught me to make Poffins out of random berries.” “Poffins?” asked Jun snobbishly, “You mean those treats they make for Pokémon?” “Yeah, those.” replied Derek, “Well, I altered the recipe to make them a little more palatable for humans. They're like pancakes, but you can never really tell what flavor they'll have! Here you guys go!” Derek used a large spoon to dive down into the pot, bringing up three colored balls. He plopped one in each bowl, adding a spoonful of the cream for a sauce. Hikari sniffed it hesitantly before stabbing the ball with her fork and bringing it up to her mouth. The girl bit some off and tested the pastry in her mouth. “So?” asked Derek, “How's it taste?” “It's really good!” cried Hikari happily, “It's kinda spicy, but really tasty!” Jun got a big smile on his lips. “I love Spicy foods!” he cried, stabbing the Poffin with his fork and jamming the whole thing in his mouth. Derek and Hikari stared as Jun chewed happily, his cheeks bulging. Suddenly, Jun's face scrunched up in horror and he spat the half chewed Poffin out onto the ground. “Ah, it's really sour!” the boy groaned as he tried to scrape the taste off of his tongue with his fingers. Hikari and Derek laughed as they watched the poor boy beside them cough and sputter. “I'm sorry about that, Jun,” said Derek, still chuckling, “I said you can't really tell their Flavors.” Derek bit into his breakfast, smiling as he did so. “My Poffin is kinda sweet. I made it with a Sitrus berry.” “Well, what did you use to make mine?!” cried Jun as his tongue hung from his mouth, “Extract of Sourosity?!” “Jun!” said Hikari cheerfully, “That's not even a word!”
