We’ve been having some problems on our website, and I came up with the idea to make a thread for general problems. So…

If you have a small problem, (and you don’t want to make a thread to ask it), you can post it here. It can range from problems on your website, to minor problems on your hard-drive. I’m not the most knowledgeable person on these forums when it comes to this stuff, so others are welcomed to lend advice as well. Thanks!

I’ve got a quick problem myself, to start off this thread… On our website, originally, we were only getting like 1 or two hits a day. It was sort of funny, but out of the blue, our hits skyrocketed to over a hundred and fifty! After a little bit, we noticed that the hits increased by one every 5 minutes. It’s kept up like that each day since. Anyone have any idea why? We think it may be some sort of automatic-thing, but I’m not sure what could be causing it. Think it may have something to do with my posting the link in my signature? Thanks in advance.

That could be one reason. You also have to take bots into consideration (like the ones on this site) if you have any.

It might also be because of all the page reloads and stuff. Our site gets almost 1,000 visits each day by supposedly unique members and yet we barely have 30 members. I'm beginning to think that's just because of how frequently we log in, log out, and reload the page. :S

Take a better look and your site's traffic and statistics and see if you can come up with a reasonable conclusion. That's the first step right there.

Thanks, that makes sense. Course, to add to the mystery, it stopped for some reason yesterday when it hit 1234 hits.

It's odd, but it looks like we've only had one hit at 11 in the morning... Huh... looks like it stopped. Weird...

That IS weird. Have you addressed this issue to the members of your board? How many members does your board have?

We're a small ministry so far, so everyone knows about it. There are only about 3 of us. Analytics never picked any of the hits up either, just a few here and there. Whatever was happening stopped I guess... We haven't had any hits since this morning. Maybe it really was just robots? Huh.

Sometimes user views can work in weird ways. I'd say it was some sort of statistical glitch or perhaps bots, if the increase in views per day is really that predictable (you said at one point it was like, three more views a day, did you not?).

There was one more view about every 5 minutes, actually. It went steady for about 2, maybe 3 or so weeks like that.
