Yo. This is a personal project that I'm currently working on, all of which is done in my spare time. This story is entitled "Christie's Story" and tells of a young girl who, as not to spoil anything involving the story, aquires a certain gift unique to her, and talks about her life in an attemp to comprehend what she's been given. It's entirely a work in progress, so nothing much has developed yet. However, the story is continuing! I just hope you'll enjoy what you're reading so far. All comments are accepted and are strongly encouraged, just to find out how I can improve! So, without further ado, here is the prologue of "Christie's Story"! Ahem... “Once upon a time, there lived a little girl. This little girl’s name was Christina. Since she was a little girl, Christina was one of the loveliest people one would ever be lucky to meet. She was a girl who always remembered her manners. She always behaved in front of her elders, she always gave gifts to her family and friends, and she never treated anyone badly. “She was a very talented girl. A girl like her sang as amazingly as a superstar. She was more revered than a super superstar. And people loved her more than a super-duper superstar. She sang to her family every Christmas, every birthday, and every New Years day, and they all loved her. She sang in plays, she sang in public, and she even sang Christmas carols. “There wasn’t a person who disliked her at first glance. “But this girl had a terrible curse. This curse manifested itself until Christina was at the ripe age of 14. Because of this horrible curse, she lost everyone dear to her. Nobody saw her as incredibly cute anymore. Nobody took notice of her incredible manners. And nobody gave her the chance to show her talent. The curse had taken her lifetime happiness and crushed it into pieces small enough to be swallowed whole. Because of this horrid event, she lost all her friends, her family didn’t see her as special, and she went into a spiralling episode of despair. “Christina became very alone. She was never happy. And she felt that everything in life she had worked for was gone... Okay, okay. I’ll cut the crud. Maybe this is a little bit overly dramatic and a stupid way to start this story. But I have to tell you, this is not all a lie, or make-believe or anything like that. No, most of this is true. Well, let me elaborate this story in a language that you can understand. And I won’t hide any bits to this story. As the author of this story, I feel as though my listeners should know exact events of this story in as much detail as possible, but I’ll keep it as short as possible so’s not to bore you. I’ll start with this Christina girl’s childhood. This part isn’t exactly a lie. Christina was an amazingly kind girl who thought more than anything that you have to be liked. She would do absolutely anything to get a person’s approval and would enter emotional turmoil if she found out someone did not find her in her good books. There was this one time where she was so upset when a kid in kindergarten treated her badly that she hid in a special place in school and cried for about an hour without break. But that’s a totally different story so I won’t go into high detail with that. With this Christina girl, everything went smooth and such for about the next seven or so years. Then, at about age 13, Christina entered the awkward adolescent phase which so many children fear to enter. She stepped through the one door in life that nobody can return through, entered a phase which would drastically alter the way her life would be from here onwards. She hit puberty, and puberty hit back hard. The thing was, though, she was pretty cool with it. She was one of the girls who saw it coming and braced for impact. But hers was not a usual one. Her body developed in ways which were very rare in most girls. The big thing, however, which affected her life in the most severe manner, was her lack of growth. While most girls tend to be taller than boys at young age due to early growth spurts, hers was less than average, so she stayed a “normal” height for her preteen years, and puberty did not improve things much better. As a result, she ended up being extremely short for her age, even for a girl. Coupled with her tomboyish attitude, her outwardly appearance had a detrimental effect on the way her fellow students and adults alike viewed her. Concentrating simply on her outward appearance and unwilling to look at her features which were more than skin-deep, her popularity dwindled. More and more people began to look away from her, until she became just as average as anyone else, or worse. Even her personality changed thanks to this, and she began to look at the world and at herself slightly differently. Mick is the only person apart from her parents who ignore her outwardly appearance and look at the person who she truly is. Mick wasn’t disappointed; he became really close friends with her simply because her personality was, in his eyes, ideal. After their friendship endured from the 8th grade all the way to the 10th grade, she finally mustered the courage to ask him to be her boyfriend, one day before he was going to. And for the past year and a half, they formed a bond which could never be severed by the harshest of ordeals. Their love remains as sturdy and as steadfast as a tightly fastened shoe, even until this very day. My name is Christina, by the way. Don’t ever call me that though. I hate that.

That's pretty good. I like the twist you added at the end with the narrator being Christie.

Thank you Proxy. I'm glad you liked that. The plot of Christie's Story, should you be interested, is of a young titular girl who lives a normal live (in Canada) where she's very happy, but eventually develops a strange ability to see into the future in her dreams. This foresightedness seemingly messes up her life, and it talks about her attempts to deal with this mental threat. Lamentably, the first 2 or 3 chapters have not much action in it and focus primarily on Character development. However, you can expect more plot devices in the near future! Here is the first part of Chapter 1. Enjoy. Chapter 1 The Beginning of the End...AgainWithout warning, she heard a sound. One so horrific and heart stopping that it could not just possibly be ignored. The very moment the sound entered her ears, everything happening in her mind came to an absolute halt. Instantly, she was forced to think what to do. She replayed all the options in her head, sure of what to do, out of what she could do. It was surprisingly easy for her to do that, as if it was routine. But even this feeling would not lessen the fact that the terrible sound could be dealt with or endured easier. It was ear-splitting; this sound would never be pleasurable to hear. But it was necessary to endure it. Without it, she couldn’t be conscious, she couldn’t begin... Begrudgingly, Christie thrust her arm in a wide arch, her fist landing forcefully on the SNOOZE button. After a minute of recuperation and allowing herself to be fully awoken by the bright sunlight shining through the massive window, she hulked herself out of bed and made way for the washroom. She smirked. Hey, at least I’m not gonna do this again for a while, she thought gleefully. * As soon as she reached the sidewalk, she touched the obvious red buttons on her shoes. The moment she did, small wheels popped out of its soles. With one, massive stretch, she started gliding along the floor. Her commute to school usually began like this, but this particular day lifted her spirits. Even before 8 o’clock in the morning, she was humming audibly and trying out some stunts on her roller shoes. Even with her immense amounts of energy, her attempts ended in absolute failure. Many of those tries ended up with her knocking herself upon the cold concrete. When she got to the intersection by DQ, her limbs were covered in blood. She didn’t care one bit about that; it was a normal occurrence anyway. Today, she embraced the blood with open arms. Much to the dismay of Wakana, whom she’d met Christie at DQ with Rico, she had a pocketful of tissues blotted with blood. Nothing, however, could stop Christie from feeling the way she did. She and Rico immediately took off on their roller shoes while Wakana followed closely on her bike. “So Rico, how’d ya do on the final exams?” Rico gave a disgruntled snort. “Christie, do you really have to ask? You know me better than, like, everyone.” “Yeah, that was a silly question, I guess. But what about the grades? “Just enough to pass the 11th grade, that’s for sure.” “And just whose fault is that Rico?” Wakana accelerated enough to meet them side by side. “You’re the one acting like a total b-tard. You just, like, never take school seriously.” Rico shrugged. “Big deal. I got what I needed, so I’m in the money. Besides, my worst grades came from those terrible subjects I suck at.” “But your good subjects’ grades weren’t exactly impressive too. They’re all B-s and C+s!” Wakana sighed heavily before continuing, “Honestly Rico. You could’ve tried, like, a teensy bit harder. Like Christie here!” Christie’s eyes lit up. No sooner did she finish her sentence that Christie dashed in front of them both, turned around, and started skating backwards on the sidewalk. Her face shined as bright as the evening sun. “I bet you guys can’t guess what kind of grades I got?” “Ooh! Ooh! I know I know!” yelled Rico, as he flailed his arms about in an exaggerated manner. “Uuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm... Was it all F’s and G’s?” “You idiot!” Wakana burst. “There are no such things as G’s!” “Listen. I’m just saying that it’s to be expected from Christie for her to be at the top of the class. She’s the kinda girl who does nothing but study because she has the attention span to be able to even endure such a trying endeavour.” “Listen to yourself Rico.” Christie giggled. “‘Endeavour’ is not a common word. You can do just fine if you apply yourself.” After a huge grin, she spun around once and faced forward, darting off ahead of the two. “Like...meee!!”

Interesting Story. I'm enjoying it thus far, fairly vague as to the actual plot though. Nothing even hinting towards one, but that's normal for a beginning story.
Keep it up Sayian, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I understand completely, Locke. That tends to be the problem with novels; the acutal story takes more time than immediate to reach the actual plot, and the first little part almost always tends to be purely character development. Since I have actual aspirations for this to become a full-blown novel, it will, unfortunately be a victim of this as well. Do not worry though! The next parts will go faster than you imagine it to, definitely. Here is the next part of Chapter 1!
“Sheesh. Look at that girl go.” Rico groaned heavily and put on a slightly annoyed face. He made no effort to try and catch up to her and skated leisurely with Wakana. “Heh, I almost see what Mick does in her.” As soon as he finished that sentence, Wakana put on a strange expression; one that showed extreme disbelief over what he said, but one which showed a lust for further information. She leaned over to the side a little bit. “What’re you trying to say, Rico?” Rico’s expression didn’t change. “Whaddaya mean?” “‘I almost see what Mick sees in her’?” Rico, still looking forward, executed a genuine shrug. “Dammit Rico! Do I, like, have to explain everything to you?” “Yes.” “You need to be slapped Rico,” she said with a slight giggle. “Do you have a thing for Christie?” It took Rico more than a second to register what she said. In that time, the shock of what she said caused him to forget that he was skating alongside her. Without warning, he turned to face Wakana, causing him to lose his footing to his speed, and he fell harshly to the ground. Wakana, shaken by this, broke, jumped off her bike, and carefully rested it against a fence before rushing to Rico. He was already rising from his knees when she arrived. “Oh my God oh my God oh my God!! I got you hurt! Rico, are you alright? I am sooooooo sorry!” “Ugh, you hurt me big time.” “Oh my God, let me help you, I’ll get you a bandage or something!” Rico looked at her hard. “Oh, a bandage won’t fix that pain. Me and Christie? A couple?! You must be, like braindead or something!” “What?! You Aspercreme!!” Wakana wound up and gave Rico a kick to his ribs, causing him to double over in pain momentarily. After some seconds, he got up without any problem. “I was actually worried about you! You’re such a *fish-slap*!” “I’m incredibly handsome too, but that doesn’t mean Christie can ever be the girl for me! I mean, come on. Look at her and look at me. For starters, she’s got an IQ of infinity, and I couldn’t add to save my life.” Rico dusted the last bits of dust off of him and dabbed his wounds with a tissue before retracting the wheels on his shoes and started walking. His expression had the message that nothing eventful had happened in the last few minutes. “So she’s smarter than you. Most girls are. But she still—” “That’s not all, sis. I have a list of reasons why we’re incompatible. She’s short,” (Wakana gave him a punch in the arm for that remark, which he reacted to with a wince) “she doesn’t know how to have nearly as much fun as you or me, she’s extremely quiet when not around us, she is incredibly serious, she’s got talents that I could never measure to... The list goes on.” He leisurely laid his hands on the back of his head, as if he was resting on them. “Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that she’s been taken for more than a year. If there’s one thing in the world which I’ll actually truly regret doing, that’s hitting on a girl that already belongs to someone.” “Shut up, Rico,” Wakana snapped. “I hate the way you talk like us girls are a guy’s possession. That’s totally sexist. We don’t belong to anyone.” She didn’t sound genuinely angry at Rico’s comment. She had known him far too well for him to be able to get under his skin as much as he used to. Their friendship dated back many years, since they both first came to high school. Even so, their friendship would not have been forged had it not been for the kind efforts of Christie. Her childlike innocence meant that her determination in forging friendships between people would never die. While at first acquaintances, Christie did whatever she could to make sure Wakana and Rico spent as much time with each other as they could. And since she was regarded as extremely friendly and cute at the time, it would be difficult not to see the good in her actions. “You know what I mean.” He teasingly put a finger on her head forcefully. “And besides, sis, let’s not forget that we’re physically bigger than you.” He winked at her and continued walking. “That gives us the ability to protect you people from everything. Still,” he began, wiggling his nose quirkily as he said so, “there’s no way you could say the same about Christie and Mick. I ain’t calling him a wuss or anything, but it’s almost as if she’s the one wearing the pants in that relationship.” She flinched at that. She’d never really thought of dominance in relationships, especially with Christie’s one. She wheeled her bike alongside Rico. “C’mon, Mick’s not that back. He’s gentle. And quiet. He’s like everything a girl likes in a man. Sans the machoness, of course, but that’s not everything.” She lit up gleefully at Christie as she skilfully swerved the corner of the kerb and disappeared past the apartment block. “I think they’re perfect for each other.”

Keep it up. This is worth it's own novel so far. There are few online stories that I enjoy reading, predominately because they are extremely vague in every part of the story, and the story really is boring to read. Although, This is one that I do enjoy. It's got great Characters, Good Grammar, The Story flows very well, and is actually interesting to read. You have my Kudos. Not many people can actually get me to enjoy something they wrote.

Brilliant. Just plain brilliant. The story flows really well. Like Locke said, it really is like a novel. Great work.

I'm really pleased that I'm impressing you two. I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I thank you for your comments. This next update is quite short. It'll wrap up the lil' conversation with Rico and Wakana, then will cut back to Christie for one final scene before the next chapter. The last line is supposed to be slightly forewarning for something coming up later in the story, but even I don't fully know what! Personally, I don't feel that it's as good as the other chapters, but the judgement is up to you guys. Hope you enjoy it!
Rico shrugged again. “I guess. As long as they’re both happy, I haven’t got any beef against any of them. I’m just saying.” “I say things too, but you don’t get any smarter.” “Ha. Hey, I’m living easy, and I’m content. Just like Christie.” Wakana didn’t reply. Instead, she simply kept smiling to herself as she wheeled her bike alongside Rico. No matter how she tried, she couldn’t fault the relationship between Christie and Mick. In her eyes, they were perfect for each other. In her eyes, she loved him, and he loved her back. In her eyes, the couple would go a long, long way. However, Rico was contemplating the sides of a totally different matter. Was dominance really necessary in a relationship? He’s seen so many friends and strangers in so many different relationships, and in pretty much each and every one, the male was clearly in charge (he didn’t count those petty relationships people had during Grade 6 or 7; after all, “They had absolutely no idea what they were doing”), and they seemed to be happy enough. Then again, he remembered many of the cases he had either seen or read about where the relationships became unstable because the male was either asserting himself too much or was simply in too much control. Well, he knew that Mick and Christie would never ever end up like that, but the whole thing seemed a bit unnatural. At times, Mick showed less “manliness”, let alone assertiveness, than Christie, and that was something he did not approve very much of. Still, he though, they’ve been together for over a year and a half, and are loving every moment of it. Who am I to judge them? He broke a smirk, albeit a small one. “Girls are deluded.” Wakana froze and stared at him in utter disbelief. After 2 minutes of awkward, unwanted silence, that was the best he could come up with? “You are incredible Rico! I can’t believe you! H-how can...?!” “What? Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. It’s been a free country since forever.” Wakana, blushing slightly at his previous comment, sighed audibly. She was wondering how on earth they became such good friends despite such differing opinions on life matters. “C’mon, sis. You can’t argue with that. You really think that girls know what they’re getting into when they enter a relationship?” *
